To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. When I realised my mistake, I contacted this seller and asked if it was possible to have a refund because the book had not yet been dispatched. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. I Am Not A Gangster is an explosive account of life in the criminal underworld by one of Britain's most dangerous men, but above all it's a remarkable tale of redemption with the biggest turnaround in gangland history. You feel all emotions when reading this book and it is a very powerful honest account of a difficult life but of someone who came through.

Eventually Bobby was sentenced to 12 years in Britain's most notorious prisons, along with the Krays, Charlie Richardson and the Yorkshire Ripper. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. In his autobiography, Cummines details how he met a broad range of people, from members of the Irish Republican Army to American gangsters.

He also used a brutal method common in the underworld, filling his shotgun with rock salt instead of buckshot–doing less damage but causing serious pain and removing any forensic evidence. Bobby was sent to prison for the first time in 1967, aged 16, and over the next decade he established himself as a ruthless hardened criminal through a succession of lucrative protection rackets and robberies. Cummines has criticised the system of high-security prisons, which places many brilliant criminal minds in one location and thus enables them to teach each other tricks and establish connections.

Its very very rare I actually want to read a book, but after watching an interview with this guy I was hooked.

I Am Not A Gangster" is a blisteringly honest account of the inner workings of the most infamous crime syndicates known and life inside Britain's most notorious jails, but above all it's a remarkable tale of redemption with the biggest turnaround in gangland history. I first saw a random clip of Bobby Cummines being interviewed on social media, and was so captivated by his brief story, I just had to get his book.

It’s a shocking insight into a society where the rules are made by gangland leaders and if anybody dare break them, they have to deal with the consequences. Despite being described as a gangster in media, Cummines has refused the label, saying he never considered himself one, instead stating he was a "businessman whose business was crime. His autobiography, I Am Not A Gangster, was published 15 May 2014 by Random House's Ebury Press imprint. This book was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, and has now made me want to read up on the Richardson gang. Cummines claims he was taught to dehumanize anyone he killed, to think of them as vermin, [2] saying that if you did think about it then you would think of their families and guilt. At 16, BOBBY CUMMINES became one of the youngest people in Britain to be convicted of carrying a sawn-off shotgun. If you ask, he'll tell you he was simply a businessman and it just so happened his business was that of a hitman, armed robber and fixer. The latter stages of the book focuses on his reform and turning his life around, which really is quite something.
