Yes, since I latched onto his unique brilliance when he joined The Yardbirds in fact and I realised that his playing was more inventive than Hank Marvin's ( the British guitar hero that all others efforts were measured up against at the time). Over Under Sideways Down” had the same youthful energy as it did when Beck and the lads were humping their equipment around England in a van with “Yardbirds” painted on the side of it. Rosie Bones, the Cockney crooner of Beck’s latest studio configuration, got the crowd in the mood by stalking through it with a flashing-light-festooned movie camera, then hopping up on the stage’s front skirt to pump out Loud Hailer’s “The Revolution Will Be Televised. Beck has surrounded himself with a cast of young players—much like the great bluesmen, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and, yes, Buddy Guy, have done. He just comes at it from a different angle, more interested in experimenting with sounds than merely playing a guitar well.

But little did u know I would again years later see him in Concerts and leading up to his 50th Anniversary. I have 4 other people's versions of 'I'd Rather Go Blind' in my collection, all of them good, but Beth can trawl those emotions up from deep inside herself and slap you in the face with them that bit better. Overall a must for Jeff Beck fans, although in my opinion the Live at Ronnie Scott’s album has the edge. This album covers most of Jeff's musical career but I would have liked something from his 'Jeff Beck Group' days of the early 1970's ( when Max Middleton was his keyboard player and Cozy Powell was on drums). Some of the songs work better than others; the original ‘Heart full of Soul’ and ‘For your Love’ for instance are never going to be bettered while ‘Shapes of Things’ and ‘Morning Dew’ both of which stick to the Rod Stewart versions fare much better, and the Buddy Guy and Billy Gibbons tracks are superlative. His stories have appeared in GQ, USA Today, Rolling Stone, Premiere, The Movies and the Los Angeles Times Magazine. He’s also hugely respected by his peers, and is clearly and deeply committed to playing what he wants to play rather than chasing new markets. Not as good as 'Live at Ronnie Scott's' (because it doesn't have Imogen Heap's rendition of 'Rolling and Tumbling) but nonetheless awe-inspiring. Gibbons, Jan Hammer, Beth Hart, Jimmy Hall and Buddy Guy and concluded with a group encore of "Purple Rain" in honor of Prince. In the summer of 2016, Jeff Beck celebrated 50 years of his musical career with a special concert at the famous Hollywood Bowl. For more than forty years, I've dipped into Jeff Beck's career without his music really connecting with me. Dipping into his career all the way back to The Yardbirds and the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart through to more recent times.
