I enjoyed that each chapter alternated between the two girls' points of view, but the overall pacing was slow and I found it hard to stay engaged. What I thought the author really did so very well was that feeling of being a new mum, she really pulled it off so well and then there were so many creepy books with the twins later on in the book – I don’t want to give away spoilers but sometimes the way they looked at people – CREEPY – and the talking! More on the reality side, it's a bit hard to believe that a celebrity and a local are related to each other.

Honestly this book will take you to the edge as you question Lauren's sanity, is she really seeing the twins as Changlings like in the fairy-folk tales or is she having a psychitic breakdown. I am not going to divulge any more of the plot as I don’t want to spoil it by giving too much away, however it’s safe to say that if you like a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, then this is definitely a book for you. I think that anyone should read this but remebr not to give up on it as you have to wait until the middle for much to happen.

And when ir read it for a second time, I thought I might have grown out of the story as the characters are younger than me, but I loved them all the same. However, when a shadow of sadness is cast over her beloved family, Sweetie leans on Sunset for support, showing her love and sweetness. From that moment I actually thought Lauren had gone mad and snapped, she tried to put them in the river! I thought it would be a bit hard understanding standing this book because it kept swapping characters each chapter and I might get a bit confused!

Now believe me when I say this, this book is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, it's all about friendship, family, music and more. Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, and spent her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, where she still lives today.

But that’s the point of him, Melanie Golding wants us to feel empathy and sympathy for Lauren and her situation, to make it more believable when the story kicks in and boy doesn’t it just kick in. She’s an only child with a sickly but devoted mum who constantly tells her she’s the daughter of a famous Rockstar. Lauren doesn’t understand why no one else can see this, but everyone thinks that the pressures must have finally gotten to her, that the twin’s brief disappearance was what broke her mind. Destiny and sunset are both excited by this prospect as sunset(the rich one) has a famous dad singer who welcomes destiny.

It's sad to see how JW herself perpetuates stereotypical western beauty standards by defining 'fair' as more desirable, a theme which sadly runs often in her books. This novel is a dark fantasy/psychological thriller and won the 2019 Dragon Award for Best Horror Novel. Destiny lives with her mum on a rundown council estate and the only luck she has ever really had is her mum inheriting money from a former patient. However, from here on in Lauren is convinced that she is being followed by a woman dressed in black rags and this women wants to swap twins with her.She has written over 70 best-selling books, and several have even been adapted for TV – most famously The Story of Tracy Beaker. The line between certainty and belief; the ambiguity of what's real and what's not; the murky business of trying to establish the truth; all of these elements make this story eerie and incredibly tense. Particularly during the last third I skimmed through a lot of text, eager to know what it was all about and get a solution. Reading this one in the dead of night was probably not the best idea, but at the same time I relished in the thrill of being scared, and some parts were just so gripping I could not put the book down even though it was well past my bedtime. Her writing makes you anxious and jumpy, worried that something will steal out of the shadows to take what’s yours.
