This is my debut book, so I'm definitely new to the world of publishing and may not be able to provide all of the answers. It resulted in this beautiful and profound book, which chronicles the struggles and achievements of historic and contemporary black women. It wonderful to remind kids of what potential is in them and to see what others have already achieved. This fascinating picture book presents a selection of true stories about incredible people who have challenged injustice and worked together to make the world a better place. The charming, information-filled full-color spreads show the Leaders as both accessible and aspirational so reader knows they, too, can grow up to do something amazing. I hope to do more events soon, but I am based on the East Coast and may only be able to visit the northeast and midatlantic in the coming months. Vashti Harrison , author and illustrator of the bestselling Little Leaders: Bold Women In Black History , is an artist, author and filmmaker with a passion for storytelling. It makes a refreshing change to see some pages filled with strong powerful determined achieving Women.I love thinking that they're closing their eyes, looking inside themselves, to step into the shoes of these famous people, emulating their story. Featuring 18 trailblazing women artists and scientists, Think Big, Little One is the irresistible board book adaptation of Vashti Harrison's second book Little Dreamers: Visionary Women Around the World. After a brief stint in television as a production coordinator, she is now a freelance graphic designer and a picture-book illustrator. Debut author/illustrator Vashti Harrison pairs captivating text with stunning illustrations as she tells the stories of both iconic and lesser-known female figures of black history - from nurse Mary Seacole, to politician Diane Abbott, mathematician Katherine Johnson and singer Shirley Bassey. Additionally, since I saw them as children dressing up as famous women, I wanted the page to feel like they're playing pretend.

Among these biographies, readers will find aviators and artists, politicians and pop stars, athletes and activists. Sometimes non-fiction is also a fantastic way to tempt a reluctant reader into sitting down with a book. Each translation or publication in another country requires a separate agreement from the foreign markets. And Josephine Baker- world famous cabaret singer and dancer- was also a spy for the French resistance?

Part author - illustrator - filmmaker, Vashti Harrison is an artist originally from Onley, Virginia. I wanted to see black girls treated with the same sweetness as classic characters like that inspire me! She earned her BA from the University of Virginia as a double major in Media Studies and Studio Art with concentrations in Film and Cinematography.

Da das Buch auf Englisch ist, schauen wir mit unserer Kleinen die Bilder an und erzählen immer mal eine Geschichte einer Frau kurz nach oder hören z.Featuring 18 trailblazing black women in American history, Dream Big, Little One is the irresistible board book adaptation of Vashti Harrison's Debut book Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History. Readers will meet trailblazing women like Mary Blair, an American modernist painter who had a major influence on how color was used in early animated films, actor/inventor Hedy Lamar, environmental activist Wangari Maathai, architect Zaha Hadid, filmmaker Agnes Varda, and physicist Chien-Shiung Wu. My daughter is only 18 months old now but I want her to grow up and be inspired by the great women who came before her. Among these biographies, readers will find heroes, role models and everyday women who did extraordinary things.
