Loved the tv series not just because l could do with losing a few pounds but Tom is my favourite tv chef. He also understands how much willpower it takes to shift unhealthy excess weight, because he has lost over 11 stone in the last four years by following a low-carb diet. Each recipe has an approx calorie count and there is a list of calories per common food item, helpful if you want to substitute when the recipe includes things you don't care for.

I have forced myself to make as much recipes as possible from the book, even if I didn’t know the ingredients or the spices. Recipes include Southern-style chicken; One-layer lasagne; Chicken tikka masala; Lamb doner kebab; Beef stroganoff; Sweet potato and black bean burritos; Sticky pork chops; and Baked doughnuts with sweet five-spice dust. As Tom says: 'It's impossible to stick to a diet if the food you're expected to eat is boring and doesn't fill you up. Whilst all the fresh ingredients are easily available, there are a few sauces and pastes in here that may not immediately seem easily accessible. Tom also uses some very creative ways of incorporating flavour to the dishes without the calories which is an incredible achievement to me, as Tom has managed to make Healthy Food Interesting, Enjoyable and keeps you feeling full through the day.

One of two other highly lauded diet books seem to consist of meals that whilst are low in calories, do not seem to contain that many healthy ingredients.Some of the Meals, in particular, the Main Meals, will take a little time to do, but even with the busy lifestyles we lead, most of us, if not all of us, get at least 1 or 2 days off in the week, so with a little bit of good organisation and discipline, you can really enjoy the food in Tom's book and lead a Healthy Eating Lifestyle at the same time.
